When Washington DC's beloved Darkest Hour wanted to start crowdfunding to finance a new record they turned to Media-Phi & Patreon. With this short video they were able to get their message to their fans accurately & reach well above their goal. 

Video is likely the first thing potential supporters see and click on before to making a decision to back it or not. Research by Kickstarter found that campaigns with videos are funded at a much higher rate (50%) than campaigns without video (30%).
